Jack stiffened at the sound of her real name, and couldn’t help but whimper softly.
"H-How do you know my real name?" She asked, her voice shaking as she turned around. "No one is supposed to know that!"

"Then drop down please."

Samantha let out a sigh. She tucked in her wings and she dropped down next to Jack. She still had her wings showing just in case she had to fly off. “There. You happy?”

"Very, thank you." Jack said, nodding. "Now, the memory thing."

The little girl was dragging around her backpack and was bare foot. She was wearing a shirt that went down to just below her knees and jeans. She looked around. "Hello? Anyone there?" The girl called out. She thought she had seen a shadow before but had to be her. (Samantha got an M!A where she turns back into a child)

Jack hadn’t exactly been looking for Samantha. She’d actually gotten lost. Again. She really was not very good at navigating the wilderness. She’d been startled when she’d felt the presence of a hybrid, but hadn’t smelled Samantha’s scent. Well, not Samantha’s scent exactly. It still smelled like her a little bit, but it was different.
"Samantha?" She asked, walking out from the shadows. "What the bloody hell happened to you?"

Jack stiffened a bit, but tried to hide it.
"Yeah….Maybe."

Samantha smiled and pulled out an old candle lantern. It had an autumn leaf design painted on the black surface. “This is my lantern. Maria painted the leaves on it for me.”

"It’s a pretty lantern. I had one like that when I was little."

Jack reached out and patted her head.
"It’ll be alright. I promise."

Samantha grabbed his wrist to stop him from patting her head but kept looking at the ground. “Don’t promise something that you know isn’t true.”

He stared at her for a moment then laughed.
"Yeah. That was pretty stupid of me, wasn’t it? Sorry."

Samantha jumped over a fallen tree as a hunter chased after her. She want to be chased but as she was told, everything happened for a reason. For some reason she looked down at the time on her wrist. It was down to a few seconds which was a surprise and the more she ran the more the number changed. She finally stop and turned to look at the hunter. She looked at her wrist. 00:00:00 it read. She looked at the hunter and frowned. “But…. how?”

"You’re pretty cute yourself." Jack mumbled

Samantha’s face just got redder and she pulled her hood down more, trying to hide it. “T-thank you.”

"No problem luv."
Austin wasn’t entirely sure how to react here.

Jack hopped down, dragging Samantha with her. There was no way she was going to let Samantha go without figuring out this memory thing

Samantha tried fly away but it Jack held her down. At least she wasn’t holding her by the wings. That would hurt like hell. “Why won’t you let me go?!”

"Because I want to know what you mean by the whole memory thing. I’m terribly nosy after all."

Samantha just hovered now, knowing that Jack was not going to let go. “It’s… it’s just something I only learned about a few years ago. Since then, I’ve been questioning some of the memories I have now.”

"Little more information?" Jack asked, not letting go, as expected.

"That’s all you get. Now let me go!" Samantha pulled out a knife from her shoe. If Jack didn’t let her go she would have to stab her hand so she would let go.

Jack didn’t move.
"You can stab me if you want. I’m used to it."

"Just let go! Besides, my wings are starting to hurt just hovering here!"

"Then drop down please."

"Thank you." She said, taking the sleeping bag. "You’re too kind."

"You’re.." Samantha thought again. "You’re… welcome! That’s it! You’re welcome!" She smiled proudly.

"Very good." Jack clapped at the accomplishment.

"Thank you!" She said, as she pulled out another sleeping bag for herself.

"You’re welcome." Jack laid the sleeping bag down on the floor and unzipped it.

"I’m sorry about my bad english. I have trouble sometimes."

"It’s alright. God knows I shouldn’t be judgmental, people had to put up with my awful German for awhile."

Samantha nodded and started to look through one of the boxes. “Were did he put that lantern? Maybe he still has it.”

Jack stiffened a bit, but tried to hide it.
"Yeah….Maybe."

Jack and the man followed her, with Jack running, and the man walking.
"The offer still stands." The man said in a sing song voice. "Once you stop running from us that is."

Samantha ran faster. There was a clearing somewhere around here and if she could find it she could fly off. “Just… don’t come near me! I’m just going to you get you into danger!” She said through her crying and picked up her pace.

"Samantha! Please come back!" Jack begged. "I’ll be fine, I promise! I don’t want you to get hurt! You’re my only friend!"
"Rude." The man said. "I’m your friend aren’t I?"
"Shut up."

Samantha finally made it to the clearing and turned around to see Jack running toward. She took a step back. “Just stay away and don’t touch me. I don’t need anyone to be killed because of my mistakes again.” She took more steps back. She started to think. Should she fly away or stay?

"Well, I’m British, we’re not real big on a lot of touching, so I don’t think we have a problem there." Bad time to be a smartass, but Jack was doing it anyway. "Just…I’m sorry."

"You don’t have to say sorry for something you didn’t do." More tears slipped down her face. "It’s my fault. Everything that’s happened is my fault. Just leave me alone and you’ll be safe. All I am is.. trouble." She fell to her knees and put her head in her hands. Her gray arua started to flicker.

Jack knelt in front of her.
"Samantha, I think we’re very much the same in this respect. It’s not completely your fault. I did some stupid stuff, you were in a bad situation, we’re both trouble."
"I feel like we’ve gotten off track here." The man said, looking down at his watch. "I still have a deal to collect on. And why did we go chasing her in the first place Jack?"
"Shut it tosser." Jack hissed

As Jack spoke Samantha’s gray aura  disappeared and her eye went back to normal. She sniffled and looked up at Jack. She smiled just a bit before breaking down into tears again. She looked down at the ground and let her tears hit her hands and the ground.

Jack reached out and patted her head.
"It’ll be alright. I promise."

"She’s like a kid." Austin muttered. Jack glared at him, then turned back to Samantha.
"Yes. Yes I am."

"Yeah, I can tell." Samantha looked forward and grinned. "I think it’s kind of cute." Samantha muttered so that neither Jack or Austin heard what she said.

"Thank you." Jack said, her smile faltering a little.

Samantha’s eye color changed to a bright pink and she blushed a bit. She didn’t think Jack actually heard her. Samantha pulled up her hood to hide her face.

"Awkward." Austin said, laughing nervously.

Samantha nodded a bit in agreement. She didn’t want to say anything because she didn’t want to embarrass herself again.

"Do you really think I’m cute?" Jack asked after a few minutes of dead silence.

Samantha almost stopped walking but kept walking. She nodded. “Y-yes.” She blushed.

"You’re pretty cute yourself." Jack mumbled
